Dave Gardiner is the owner of Xmplar and has been providing professional editing, writing and illustration services since qualifying as an editor in 2004.
He gained certification with the First-level Certificate in Technical Communication through tekom in 2014, and has been a qualified professional editor since obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing from the University of Southern Queensland in 2006.
Dave has worked on Australian contracts as an in-house editor and technical writer, including writing and editing news stories for an arts and recreation portal, editing papers for criminology researchers, editing legal textbooks and annotated legislation, and technical writing for web-based software documentation.
He has also provided professional document and book publishing services through numerous freelance contracts for Australian government agencies, academic researchers and PhD students. This has included writing magazine articles for science communication, copy editing reports and journal papers, project-managing scientific editing of books, and redrawing technical illustrations and maps.
Xmplar has partnered with Joseph Liard in developing an online graphics tool, Draw SVG. This is used to create multilingual videos.
